
The Chamber Music Society of Wichita [CMS-ICT] is a fully functioning educational organization as per the stipulations set out in the IRS 501(c)(3) Code. We attempt to engage all of our artists [visiting and resident] in educational activities that relate in some way to the concerts they perform with us. These events can come in many forms but most often appear as: master classes at one of our area universities, clinics and/or concert previews with local secondary-school-aged students, public lectures, or workshops.
We believe that the students who are privileged enough to see and work with our artists will henceforth be more engaged in their “everyday” musical instruction at school and will most likely have the arts as part of their life, in one way or another, from that day forward. Events such as these are truly transformative experiences. Regardless of age, I can all but guarantee that attendees will be much more likely to seek out other artistic productions from CMS-ICT or a variety of other musical organizations after these activities takes place.
